Meet Live Transcript – Rahul Bindal (“the extension”) captures Google Meet captions into a transcript that you can copy or download, with optional live translation. This policy explains what data the extension handles.

1. Data the extension handles

When you turn on captions in Google Meet, the extension reads the caption text and speaker names shown on the page and saves them, with timestamps, as your transcript. It also saves your settings (translation on/off, target language, overlay on/off).

2. Where data is stored

The transcript and settings are stored only on your device, in your browser’s local extension storage. We don’t operate any server, and we don’t receive, collect, or have access to your transcripts. You can delete the transcript at any time with the Clear button, or by removing the extension.

3. Translation (optional)

Translation is off by default. If you turn it on, the caption text is sent to Google’s translation services (translate.googleapis.com or translation.googleapis.com) so it can be translated into your chosen language. This is the only time data leaves your device. Google’s handling of that text is covered by Google’s Privacy Policy. If you leave translation off, nothing is sent anywhere.

4. What we don’t do

  • We don’t sell or transfer your data to third parties, other than the translation requests described above.
  • We don’t use your data for advertising, profiling, or anything unrelated to the extension’s single purpose.
  • We don’t use analytics or tracking.
  • We don’t collect personal information such as your name, email, location, or browsing history.
  • We don’t run remote code.

5. Permissions

The extension requests only the permissions it needs: access to meet.google.com to read captions, local storage to keep your transcript, and access to Google’s translation endpoints for the optional translation feature.

6. Your responsibility when recording

Transcribing a meeting may require the consent of the other participants under the laws where you live. You are responsible for getting any consent that applies.

7. Children’s privacy

The extension is not directed at children under 13, and it does not knowingly collect data from them.

8. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we’ll update the date above and post the new version at this page.
